Pupils from Rushcombe First School’s gardening club have planted five young silver birch trees to expand their woodland.
They were helped by Justin Taylor from the Grounds Maintenance division of Dorset Works Organisation, which maintains Rushcombe’s grounds.
Year 4 pupils from the ‘Green Fingers’ after-school club planted them to replace trees in their woodland - which is used for nature studies and orienteering - that had to be felled.
Headteacher Sue Swift said: “Developing the children's environmental awareness is an important part of the curriculum at Rushcombe First School. We are very fortunate to have extensive grounds that enable us to provide hands on experiences for our pupils.
“This club is one of several after school activities that are provided for the children to enrich their learning.”
