Head Leonie Fawcett with pupils on new buddy benches: improving the outdoor environment to develop respect for one another was part of the developments created by the school council which impressed Ofsted. |
Rushcombe First School has been described as “outstanding” during its latest Ofsted report, which particularly commented on the children’s behaviour and hard work.
The Corfe Mullen school’s report read: ‘This is an outstanding school... the school very successfully balances pupils’ personal as well as academic development.'
‘Pupils of all ages make outstanding progress, building on the excellent start children get as a result of the high quality teaching and support.’
It added that parents were positive about the impact of opportunities. One parent noted: "My child is enthused about learning".
‘The schools philosophy based on the 5 R's resilience, resourcefulness, reflectiveness and reciprocity and responsibility, was extended at the suggestion of pupils to include respect.'
‘It transcends all that happens at the school, underpins excellent personal development and ensures all pupils are well prepared for future study and life in general.’
The report said there were no major aspects of the school requiring improvement.
Acting Head Leonie Fawcett said: “We are delighted with the report as we feel it reflects the school’s ethos and our dedication to quality learning.
“We are extremely proud of our impressive team of pupils, staff and governors who work so very hard to make our school unique. Our outstanding school is enhanced by the constant support and contribution of our parents and local community.
“We are never complacent at Rushcombe and continue to aspire to succeed in everything we do, creating an excellent education for all our children.”
Rushcombe has 309 pupils aged four to nine.
