Foundation gets a new playground!
Foundation year pupils at Rushcombe First School can now enjoy more adventurous playtimes, thanks to a new installation.
The area features a special road on a ‘wet pour’ rubber surface, along with a playhouse and climbing frame.
Children aged four and five with their teachers decided on the multicoloured road layout - which was produced specially for the school - and they also selected the climbing frame.
Acting headteacher at the Corfe Mullen school, Leonie Fawcett, said: “The area encourages children to think about road safety and we have compiled some sessions to teach awareness.
“Using the bikes, scooters and trikes on the road also increases their motor skills.
“The new playhouse is lovely - sometimes it’s a post office, sometimes it’s a police station or a cottage. And a very generous mum has made fun outfits for the children to wear.”
Leonie added: “Previously the area had a tarmac surface and an ordinary shed used to store the play things - to have something permanent has made a huge difference.”
