Madeleine wins school logo competition

Budding young artist Madeleine Songhurst has won a Rushcombe First School competition to design a logo.

Her design formed the logo for a new association for parents, teachers and friends known as Friends of Rushcombe (FOR).

Madeleine, who is in Year 1 at the Corfe Mullen School, designed the logo by hand and came first out of more than 50 entries.

The School Council held a competition for all children to design a logo to be used by FOR. The winner was chosen by pupils in the school council and the FOR committee.

Madeline was thrilled with her winning entry and with her prize of a voucher to create her own ceramic art. She said: “I love to draw and colour in.”

All parents of pupils at Rushcombe are automatically members of FOR and can support the school in arranging fundraising and social events. It is also an opportunity to strengthen links between school and the local community.

Acting head Leonie Fawcett said: “There’s a tremendous amount of enthusiasm among the parents in creating the new Friends of Rushcombe.

“I am really excited about working with the committee to continue to provide an outstanding educational experience for all children at Rushcombe.”
