Rushcombe First School

The School Building

School groundsRushcombe First School is of spacious, semi-open plan design. Leading off a central hall are five teaching bases, each with individual entrances, cloakroom and toilet facilities and purpose built art/craft areas. Each base is fully carpeted and very well resourced.

LibraryLocated in the centre of the building is a well-stocked reference library and large hall for PE, dance and gymnastics. The school also has a purpose built studio for music, drama and philosophy sessions. A second studio provides an additional working area known as the ‘study’. Here, KS2 children participate in independent and group research.

PlaygroundThe school is situated in extensive grounds with hard and grassed areas, having excellent provision for outdoor sports. The school has its own woodland, pond and wildlife areas that provide a wealth of opportunities for environmental studies. Each year group has its own garden area that they are responsible for, known as the ‘allotments’.

Security

Every step is taken to ensure that the children are as safe as possible in school. We welcome parents and visitors to school and ask you to always present yourself at the office. Visitors, helpers and contractors all have to ‘sign in’ and wear an identity badge. Security fencing and gates surround the site. All doors are locked during school hours, which prevents unauthorised entry but allows an easy and quick exit in case of emergency!
