Operation Encompass Safeguarding Statement

Our school is part of Operation Encompass. This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse.

Operation Encompass means that the police will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents with our school soon after they have been called to a domestic incident.

All Key Adults (Designated Safeguarding Lead/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads) have attended an Operation Encompass local briefing as well as national online training.

Operation Encompass will ensure that senior safeguarding members of the school staff [Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Mahon; Deputy Safeguarding Leads: Mr White and Mrs Hancock], known as “Key Adults”, are trained to allow them to receive information from the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in a domestic abuse incident.

Our parents are aware that we are an Operation Encompass school.

The Operation Encompass information is stored in line with all other confidential safeguarding and child protection information.

The Key Adults have shared information with school staff and Governors about Operation Encompass.  We have also discussed how we can support our children following the Operation Encompass notification.

By taking part in Operation Encompass, we aim to provide the best possible support for any children and their families, and believe that this will be beneficial for all those involved.
