PSHE
As
part of our PSHE and citizenship work, the children are encouraged to develop
independence and a sense of responsibility for themselves and others. As
the children get older they are actively encouraged to become involved in
the running of the school. Year 3 elect a team of buddies whose purpose is
to ensure all children have a friend to play and talk with. Year 4 children
elect a team of mediators, whose role is to resolve differences at play and
lunch times.
We have a School Council, comprising of 2 children from each year group, elected by their peers. The Council meets weekly to discuss school issues and improvements they consider appropriate. They even have their own budget!
Children in Years 3 and 4 can earn the VIP award, which enables them to use the library and ICT facilities at playtimes for independent research/work.
